I've created this blog for you, should you wish to use it instead of sending weekly updates to your parents. What has to happen is that you invite parents to sign up and then you post your updates on the blog...It's that simple. When you post an update, a notification is sent to the parents.
You two can discuss this and see if you would like to use it as a tool. With two compelling curricula, a blog is an opportunity for parents and students to post comments, etc.
